"As someone who cares deeply about helping struggling readers gain confidence, I can’t recommend DIVI enough. It bridges the gap between structured literacy instruction and real-world reading experiences, empowering kids to see themselves as capable and successful readers. This resource is a game-changer for educators, parents, and anyone committed to making literacy not just accessible but exciting for all children." - Paul Black, EdS, NCSP (School Psychologist)

"I have been teaching individuals with dyslexia to read for more than a decade. Practice is essential, but up until now the only way to practice was using decodable text and books. Decodable books have their place, but often my students are reading well below their intelligence level and below age appropriate materials. They don’t like it. Self-esteem is already affected.

"DIVI is a game changer! My students can choose what to read based on interest and intellectual level, NOT reading level, and it is presented in a way that is still decodable while exposing them to more complex words, rich vocabulary, and a large variety to choose from. They are reading more! They feel successful! DIVI is life altering for my students.” - Sherry Evans, Dyslexic Tutor, Owner of Dyslexia Complete Solutions, Former Psychometrist

"I can’t express enough how transformative the reading program has been for my son. Struggling with Dyslexia since he was a first grader, he often felt embarrassed when asked to read aloud in class and fell behind his classmates. His tutor introduced a new reading platform called DIVI and we've seen a great improvement. Not only has he improved his reading skills, but he can now comprehend what he reads, which has boosted his confidence tremendously.

The skills he has learned have empowered him to read aloud without fear, and he happily shares his progress with anyone in the room. It’s incredible to see him thrive where he once struggled. His journey from feeling defeated to becoming a more confident reader is a testament to the effectiveness of this approach." - Nicholle M., Mother of 15 yr old, severely dyslexic child

“My dyslexic angel loved this book! Was so nice to see her be so excited about reading” – Kira, Mom

- - -

“Your book is amazing!! My daughter has not been officially diagnosed with dyslexia but I’m pretty sure she is and her resource teacher also thinks so…she read through it with ease and struggled way less than normal. I actually wanted to cry when she read it because she did so well.” - Mom

"We've been using DIVI and it's great! My daughter really likes reading the stories which is awesome since normally she fights so hard on reading, and a time or two when I had stepped away I even heard her reading the story by herself."

I really like that they are stories that she is interested in. We have read one of the Who Would Win articles several times. I love that the words are bolded for her to read and spaced out a little. She comments a lot on other books that the text is too little so that's been really helpful that it's bigger." - Catherine M., mom of dyslexic child

"DIVI has changed my life. I was struggling with my daughter‘s public education, and they would always tell me at the parent teacher conferences that my child was behind. I was doing everything I could at home with her in regards to extra reading, through tears and emotions, all while parenting her two younger twin siblings.

While we were at an All-Star cheer conference, I was able to attend Story Con, which DIVI was a part of. They took time to support me with all the special needs and coordinating the school systems into normalize my experience. They were a safety net in my child’s learning and education, and all the tools and resources are beginning to give my child a love of learning. Now that I have the support from other people, I know that I’m not alone navigating this and I can be able to breathe a little bit easier knowing she’s getting the support from an entire team. The team has specialists that have navigated this before and as a parent who is navigating this for the first time, I can’t tell you how grateful I am for this service. The team approach is really helped me understand and navigate how to advocate for the school and the services that are available. I am forever grateful that they were at her cheerleading conference right next-door so that we could be able to walk right in and have the help that we so desperately needed." â€‹ - Kathy C., Mom of dyslexic child

"When Lacy went back to school (after COVID-19), her teacher asked what we had been doing because she was one of very few who hadn't slid backward. Lacy came home and said, 'Mom! I'm smart!' It was the best day of her life. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for not only teaching her to read, but helping her feel good about herself." - Kristy

"You have been our angel. Matthew was on suicide watch when you promised him he would learn to read. He hated school, he hated himself, he thought he was dumb. He has been traumatized badly in school. Although Matthew was several grade levels behind and we were told to only expect him to get to a functional 5th grade reading level, he reads easily at grade level after tutoring with you. He has his confidence back. He feels he is smart. He is finishing his Eagle Scout project to raise money for a nonprofit organization for dyslexia. You literally saved his life and I will always love you for influencing his life in such a dramatic way. Thank you is never enough."

(update: Matthew became a dyslexia youth advocate, spoke on morning news shows, on radio shows, at reading conferences and workshops, in front of Utah State legislators, to the Utah State School Board, and graduated from high school. He completed his Eagle Scout project and I attended his Court of Honor. He gave me, his tutor, his mentor pin. He said that other than his mom, I had influenced his life the most. He is thriving and will go places. He did hard things and came out a winner!) - Angie

A Bit More About DivI...

The patent-pending DIVI(TM) platform is an innovative assistive reading technology. Instead of presenting only decodable texts and decodable books, the DIVI Library takes literally any text (yes, ANY text, book, article, etc.), and makes it decodable based on each child's individual current skill level. â€‹

Why does this matter?

The two most-fundamental rules of reading are:

1. A child must be given material that is on their skill level. Most structured literacy curricula, decodable texts and decodable books, are great at fulfilling that requirement.

BUT...

2. A child must also be given material that they WANT to read. When a child has material they want to read, their learning accelerates. Sadly, this is where most structured literacy curricula and decodable texts fall short, despite the best intentions of educators and publishers.

Let’s face it - most children don’t love things they "have" to read, including decodable books - especially older children.  We also know that many children with reading struggles aren’t identified until they’re in 3rd -6th grade.  Most 11-year-olds don’t want to read books that sound like they’re written for 6-or 8-year-olds.  (We love decodable books - they will always have an important place in a science of reading-based, structured literacy curriculum, but it's an uphill battle if the child doesn't want to read them).

But children want more!  They want to read what their friends are reading.

Sadly, with other curricula and reading programs in the world, children only get one or the other. Read at your skill level. Or listen to something you're actually interested in.

What if we could help them read books that match their intellectual level and interests, and read on their skill level, both at the same time?

What if they could "practice" reading while reading highly acclaimed and exciting books like NY Times Bestseller Fablehaven by Brandon Mull?

DIVI is short for Divide and Conquer. It's a strategy that has been used successfully in many different arenas for thousands of years. The basic idea is this - divide the enemy and they are easier to conquer. Who/what is the enemy here? Put simply - the enemy are the words struggling readers and dyslexic kids don't know how to decode. We divide the words they do know from the ones they don't.
